For some reason, I've been getting up at 5am every morning. I guess that's a good thing because no one is ever on the computer that early. Then I go back to bed and get up for breakfast which is included with pretty much every hotel room. The breakfasts are a feast and feel more like a brunch. There's always some sort of eggs, toast, and cereal. But there's also at least 3 types of herring, ham, salomi, liverworst, pickles, carrots, red and yellow peppers, lettuce, cheese, and all sorts of spreads to add to your sandwhich. It would only make sense that the real purpose is to eat the breakfast foods and pack a lunch with the rest. One couple that we met had baggies with them to do just that. They did refrain from doing that while we were in the fjords because there was a sign asking the tourists not to do that. Yesterday we were on a train for 8 hours, then we met up with Sergey for a 2 and a half hour walk. He took us all the way to the University. Pete, thankfully, was the one who was obviously in pain. His ankles were killing him, so we took the subway back. My toe is doing better than I thought it would. It looks grose and occasionally itches, but the blisters haven't been that bad. On to the random observations. Norway seems to be a dog friendly country. We noticed on several trains that all sorts of dogs also go on board. There was a very cute red colored dog that spent the day with us on the train yesterday. I think it was a collie, but I've never been good at identifying breads since I have only been around labs lately. The other random observation that's coming to mind at this early hour is that at least in Oslo, and actually Copenhagen also had this, in order to turn on the light, you must insert your room key and keep it there. I guess this cuts down on wasted electricity in that the lights go out when you leave and take the key with you, but if you have 2 keys, that theory doesn't apply. It was comical trying to figure out how to turn the lights on the first day because the room was very dark. That's all for the random trip thoughts. Today we are going to go sight seeing in Oslo. The viking museum, Folk museum, Kon Tiki, and the Ski Museum are all on the agenda for the day.
